#UnexpectedPlaces Review: Bimbo Ademoye, Timini’s archetypes make movie predictable
Trending YouTube movie, Unexpected Places, joins a long list of movies that both Bimbo Ademoye and Timini Egbuson have featured in. But how did they fare in their latest offering?
5.5 million views in nine days for a 1 hr 44 min movie is a feat that even the Remas and Joeboys of music would have been proud of, given the YouTube feats that the music duo has achieved in recent years.
Only that this time, the over five million views have not been amassed by a song, but rather a movie, produced by one of Nollywood’s finest, Bimbo Ademoye, which had Timini Egbuson as a co-star.
The movie Unexpected Places was made available for public consumption on YouTube in early May and became an instant hit, judging by the number of views it accumulated.
Having built a bond that spans numerous movies – from Breaded Life, Big Love, to Ajuwaya, Love is Yellow, The Haunted Village and Love Alarm, Bimbo and Timini have grown a reputation as an onscreen couple whose sight excites many viewers. The excitement was again renewed when the two award-winning thespians reunited on the set of Unexpected Places.
At first glance, the plot of Unexpected Places is woven around Timini and Bimbo to showcase the theme of love and how it can sprout in the places least thought of. As much as this makes for an interesting prospect from afar, the manner of execution makes it a monotonous one.
For the umpteenth time, Timini plays the role of a spoilt brat, who has a strict father and a condoning mother. He starts the movie on a reckless, irresponsible note, is forced to acknowledge the error of his ways while falling in love with a lady and things smoothen out.
Bimbo, in a manner reminiscent of Breaded Life, is a poor girl—but an educated one with a posh accent—who stands up to a spoilt rich kid and eventually falls in love with him. The only departure is that Chris (played by Timini) dies of a liver disease, and Prosper (you guessed it, Bimbo) has to bear the pain of seeing her lover fade away.
There are positives from the film, notably the research done into the liver condition and the dialogue around it while Bimbo and Timini again show acting chemistry and why they are highly rated.
However, the predictability of their characters, character development, and plot make it devoid of twists. One can easily envisage the bulk of what would happen in the movie right from the first few scenes.
Nollywood’s bane.
Unexpected Places with an expected plot.

You're correct where you stated that one could predict what will happen from the first 3 scenes.😭😂
